Schoolyard to Sound Challenge - Prizes & Official Rules
Beginning March 5, 2018 through May 5, 2018, Audubon invites students of schools in New Haven and Fairfield County, Connecticut, and their families and teachers, to help us create a healthy Long Island Sound by participating in Audubon Connecticut’s Schoolyard to Sound Challenge and taking action right in their own schoolyard or backyard.
To participate, entrants must take action in one of three ways:
- Complete and submit the online Schoolyard to Sound Pledge Form
- View a featured online streaming Osprey Camera and complete and submit the online Audubon Connecticut Osprey Nest Cam Monitoring Form
- OR both, complete and submit the online Schoolyard to Sound Pledge Form AND view a featured online streaming Osprey Camera and complete and submit the online Audubon Connecticut Osprey Nest Cam Monitoring Form
The more you participate, the greater the chances of winning!
- The school classroom with the greatest number of Schoolyard to Sound Pledge Form entries will win free passes to Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, Connecticut for each student! (estimated $1350 value)
- The school classroom with the greatest number of Audubon Connecticut Osprey Nest Cam Monitoring Form entries will be awarded a Live Bird of Prey Show and set of raptor books for their classroom. (a $500 prize value)
- The school classroom with the second greatest number of Schoolyard to Sound Pledge Form entries will be awarded a voucher for schoolyard habitat plants. (a $350 prize value)
- The school classrooms with the second and third greatest number of Audubon Connecticut Osprey Nest Cam Monitoring Form entries each will be awarded outdoor education tool kits. (a $175 prize value each)

AUDUBON CONNECTICUT’S SCHOOLYARD TO SOUND CHALLENGE OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
Entry Period
1) Audubon Connecticut’s Schoolyard to Sound Challenge (the “Challenge”) is open from 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) on March 5, 2018, through 11:59 p.m. ET on May 5, 2018.

Who May Enter
3) The Challenge is open to registered students and teachers of schools in New Haven and Fairfield County, Connecticut ("Entrant"). Students must be FIVE (5) to EIGHTEEN (18) years of age on or by March 5, 2018, and have consent to participate from a parent or legal guardian. Employees of the National Audubon Society, Inc., its officers, directors of its national, state and center boards, and their immediate families (parents, children, siblings, and spouses, regardless of where they reside) or those living in the same household (whether or not related) are not eligible to participate (collectively with Audubon, the “Challenge Entities”). Classrooms in which any student or teacher falls within one of the categories listed as Challenge Entities are also ineligible to participate. Void where prohibited by law. Contests are governed by U.S. law and subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. By entering the Challenge, Entrants agree to accept and be bound by all the terms of these Official Rules and Regulations (“Official Rules”).
How to Enter
4) To enter the Challenge, Entrants must go online at http://ct.audubon.org/schoolyard2sound-2018 (“Web Page”) and submit their entry one of three ways: 1) complete and submit the online or printed Schoolyard to Sound Pledge Form; 2) view a featured online streaming Osprey Camera and complete and submit the online or printed Audubon Connecticut Osprey Nest Cam Monitoring Form; OR 3) both, complete and submit the online or printed Schoolyard to Sound Pledge Form AND the online or printed Audubon Connecticut Osprey Nest Cam Monitoring Form (together and individually, “Submissions”). Minors must complete the Forms with their parents or legal guardians. Limit ONE (1) Submission of the Schoolyard to Sound Pledge Form per Entrant. Challenge Entrants may submit as many Audubon Connecticut Osprey Nest Cam Monitoring Forms as they like. Printed entries must be mailed to: Audubon Connecticut, Schoolyard Habitat Program, 613 Riversville Road, Greenwich CT 06831.
5) Audubon reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify and remove any Submission and/or Entrant at any time, including for false or deceptive acts. False or deceptive acts may include multiple Submissions or Submissions reasonably suspected to be generated by script, macro, or other automatic means; or any Submission that Audubon determines to be offensive, inappropriate, or not in keeping with Audubon’s image. Submissions may also be disqualified if the Entrant has not otherwise complied with any portion of these Official Rules.
6) No purchase necessary. Odds of winning depend on how many Submissions are received.
Prizes
7) There are FIVE (5) prizes available to be won: ONE (1) Classroom Pledge Grand Prize, ONE (1) Classroom Monitoring Grand Prize, ONE (1) Classroom First Prize, ONE (1) Classroom Second Prize, and ONE (1) Classroom Third Prize.
- Classroom Pledge Grand Prize: ONE (1) voucher that allows free admission for ONE (1) child and ONE (1) adult into the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, Connecticut and is good for ONE (1) daily classic Maritime Aquarium IMAX film will be awarded to each student in a single school classroom (estimated prize value of $1350). The Classroom Pledge Grand Prize will be awarded to the classroom with the highest number of Submissions of the Schoolyard to Sound Pledge Form.
- Classroom Monitoring Grand Prize: A Live Bird of Prey Show provided by Audubon Sharon and a set of books about raptors (including stories about rehabilitated hawks and eagles) will be awarded to ONE (1) school classroom (a total prize value of $500). The Classroom Monitoring Grand Prize will be awarded to the classroom with the highest number of Submissions of the Audubon Connecticut Osprey Nest Cam Monitoring Form.
- Classroom First Prize: A voucher for plants for their schoolyard habitat will be awarded to ONE (1) school classroom (a total prize value of $350). The Classroom First Prize will be awarded to the classroom with the second highest number of Submissions of the Schoolyard to Sound Pledge Form.
- Classroom Second Prize: An educational tool kit for outdoor learning will be awarded to ONE (1) school classroom (a total prize value of $175). The Classroom Second Prize will be awarded to the classroom with the second highest number of Submissions of the Audubon Connecticut Osprey Nest Cam Monitoring Form.
- Classroom Third Prize: An educational tool kit for outdoor learning will be awarded to ONE (1) school classroom (a total prize value of $175). The Classroom Third Prize will be awarded to the school classroom with the third highest number of Submissions of the Audubon Connecticut Osprey Nest Cam Monitoring Form.
Prize Conditions
8) Only ONE (1) Classroom Prize may be awarded per school classroom. In the event of a Prize tie, the winner will be selected by a random drawing conducted by Audubon by writing the name of each tied classroom on a piece of paper and drawing out of a hat. Audubon will notify the teachers in each winning classroom by May 14, 2018. The Classroom Pledge Grand Prize must be redeemed before the end of the 2017-2018 academic year (no later than June 30, 2018). All other prizes will be distributed to the classroom teachers before the end of the 2017-2018 academic year (no later than June 30, 2018).
9) All expenses related to the acceptance or use of any Prize is the sole responsibility of the prize winner.
10) Prizes are not redeemable for cash, except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. Prizes are non-assignable or transferable. No substitution is permitted except if Prize or Prize component is unavailable, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded. Any other incidental expenses for a Prize not specified herein are the sole responsibility of each winner. Once a Prize has been delivered to the winner’s classroom, the Prize is considered awarded.
11) The Classroom Pledge Grand Prize of admission to the Maritime Aquarium is limited to a maximum of 30 students.
General Conditions
12) Audubon is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate entry information, viruses, bugs, malfunctions, or other any other errors, human or otherwise, regardless of the cause (collectively, an “Error”). In the event of any Error, Audubon reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to discontinue, suspend, cancel, or modify the Challenge. In the event of cancellation, Audubon reserves the right to select the winners from the pool of all eligible, non-suspect Submissions received prior to the Error using the selection procedure outlined above.
13) Entrants are solely responsible for their Submission and, by entering a Submission, they represent and warranty that the content of the Submission is not defamatory, obscene, hateful, harassing, or discriminatory, nor is a violation of any law, including those protecting privacy, publicity, trade secrets, copyrights or trademarks. You agree to indemnify Audubon against any third-party claim that your Submission breaches these representations and warranties.
14) Audubon reserves the right to substitute for any reason whatsoever a prize (or portion thereof) of comparable or greater value, at its sole discretion. Winners are responsible for the reporting and payment of all taxes as well as any other costs and expenses associated with acceptance and use of their prize not specified herein as being awarded.
15) By entering this Challenge, you grant to Audubon the right, unless prohibited by law, to use your name, city and state of residence, voice, picture and likeness, and Submission, without compensation, notification, or approval, for the purpose of advertising and publicizing the goods, services, and mission of the Challenge Entities, in any manner or medium, now or hereafter known, throughout the world in perpetuity.
16) By entering this Challenge and/or accepting a prize, you and/or the winner agrees to, and hereby does, release Audubon from any and all liability, loss or damage arising from or in connection with their participation or attempted participation in the Challenge and/or the awarding, receipt, use or misuse of the prize or participation in any prize-related activities, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy. Audubon and its subsidiaries, affiliates and divisions, and their respective directors, officers, employees, attorneys, representatives, and agents, makes no warranties, and hereby disclaims all warranties, express or implied, concerning any prize furnished or awarded in connection with the Challenge, including, but not limited to, any winner’s ability to claim a prize awarded in the Challenge for reasons of the prize provider’s bankruptcy, insolvency, or failure to continue its business. WITHOUT LIMITING THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING, SUCH PRIZES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AND AUDUBON HEREBY DISCLAIMS ALL SUCH WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND/OR NONINFRINGEMENT.
17) You may obtain the name and city of residence of the winning classrooms by mailing a self-addressed stamped envelope to Schoolyard to Sound, c/o Audubon Connecticut, 613 Riversville Road, Greenwich CT 06831. Requests received after August 1, 2018, will not be honored.
